New patients
Yes. Croft Dental is accepting new patients including adults, children and families. No referral is required and you do not need permission from a previous dentist to register with us.
Call the practice on 01625 523 524, book online, or complete the enquiry form on our website. We will send you a short medical history form to complete before you arrive, and your first appointment is a full examination rather than a quick look.
A new patient examination is £85, which includes any x-rays taken at that appointment, currently available at £40. Implant consultations and teeth straightening consultations are free of charge.
No. Croft Dental is a private practice and does not provide NHS treatment. Our fees are published in full on our website, and finance is available on larger treatment plans.
New patient appointments are usually available within a couple of weeks. If you are in pain, tell us when you call and we will find you something sooner.
Yes, and you do not need permission from your current dentist. If you would like your records transferred we can request them on your behalf, though it is not essential since we carry out a full assessment anyway.
Yes. Children's examinations are £30 and families can be registered together so appointments are arranged on the same day where possible.
That is common and it needs no explanation. Nobody here will comment on it. Come in, let us have a look, and we will plan things at a pace that suits you.
Appointments
Most patients are seen every six months, though the right interval depends on your individual risk. Patients with gum disease, a high decay rate, implants or extensive restorative work are often seen every three to four months. Your clinician will recommend an interval based on your assessment rather than applying a fixed schedule.
Call 01625 523 524, email dentist@croftdental.co.uk, message us on WhatsApp, or reply to your appointment reminder. Please give at least two working days' notice.
A charge of £75 per half hour of reserved clinical time may apply where an appointment is missed or cancelled with less than two working days' notice. We routinely waive this where something unavoidable happened, and you do not need to provide proof.
Deposits apply to new patient appointments at £20, to any appointment over an hour at £100, and to cosmetic and implant treatment, which is calculated per case. Deposits are deducted from your treatment cost and are refundable with at least two working days' notice.
Call and let us know. We will usually still see you, though we may need to shorten the appointment. Where treatment cannot be carried out safely in the remaining time we will rebook it, and we will not charge you.
Yes. Ask to be added to our short notice list and we will call you if a slot comes up.
Costs and payment
Yes. Our full fee guide is on the website, showing every treatment we provide. Fees are shown as starting prices, since the final cost depends on the complexity of your case.
Always. After your examination or consultation, and before any treatment begins, you receive a written treatment plan with itemised costs. Nothing starts until you have agreed to it, and there are no charges partway through that were not in the plan.
We stop, discuss it with you and provide a revised estimate before proceeding. We do not carry on and adjust the bill afterwards.
A new patient examination is £85 including x-rays, currently £40. Routine examinations are £55 and children's examinations are £30.
Implant consultations and teeth straightening consultations are free of charge, with no obligation to proceed.
We accept card payments and bank transfer for larger treatments. Finance is available on larger treatment plans, and a practice plan is available for routine care.
[NOTE FOR CLIENT: Confirm accepted payment methods, including whether card surcharges apply and whether Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted.]
Yes. Our practice plan spreads the cost of examinations and hygiene appointments across fixed monthly payments rather than paying per visit. It generally works out cheaper for patients who attend regularly.
Finance
Yes. We offer finance through Tabeo on larger treatment plans, allowing the cost to be spread across monthly payments rather than paid in full at the outset.
Interest free options are available on qualifying treatment plans, meaning the total you repay is the cost of the treatment with nothing added. Longer repayment terms may carry interest, in which case the total repaid is higher. We will show you both so you can compare.
Finance is available on larger treatment plans. In practice that most commonly means dental implants, full arch implant treatment, Invisalign and teeth straightening, cosmetic treatment such as veneers and multiple composite bonding, and larger restorative plans. Routine examinations and hygiene appointments generally fall below the threshold.
The application takes a few minutes and is completed at the practice on a tablet, or on your own phone through a link we send you. You will usually have a decision straight away.
A deposit is usually required on interest free agreements. The amount depends on the treatment cost and the term selected, and we will show you the exact figures before you agree to anything.
Finance applications involve a credit check, which is recorded on your credit file. Making payments on time can have a positive effect, while missed payments can have a negative effect and may incur charges.
Lending decisions are made by the finance provider based on affordability and credit checks, and we are not told the reasons. Where an application is not approved, treatment can often be staged over a longer period with each phase paid for as it happens, which achieves a similar outcome without credit.
Applicants must be over 18 with a source of income. The Croft Dental & Implant Practice is a credit broker, not a lender. Finance is subject to status.
Dental implants
A single implant starts from £1,300 for the placement, with the crown and abutment from £1,000, giving a complete implant from around £2,300. Same day implants start from £2,000 and full arch packages from £11,500. Implant consultations are free.
There is no upper age limit. Suitability depends on general health and bone quality rather than age, and patients in their seventies and eighties are treated routinely. The minimum age is around eighteen, since implants are not placed until the jaw has finished growing.
Usually not. Bone can often be rebuilt through grafting from £450 or a sinus lift from £850, and techniques such as All-on-4 angle the implants to engage bone that remains. Where the upper jaw has severe bone loss, zygomatic implants anchor into the cheekbone instead. Many patients told elsewhere that implants are not possible turn out to be suitable.
Placement is carried out under local anaesthetic and most patients report feeling pressure rather than pain. Sedation is available from £350. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal.
Most single implant cases take three to six months from placement to the final crown, allowing time for the implant to fuse with the bone. Some cases are suitable for same day teeth. Cases requiring bone grafting take longer.
No. Where the site is visible when you smile, a temporary tooth is provided. For full arch cases, a fixed temporary bridge is usually fitted on the day of surgery.
Implants are designed as a permanent replacement and frequently last decades with good hygiene and regular maintenance. The crown fitted on top may need replacing after fifteen to twenty years of normal wear.
Dr Nikhil Oberai, who holds a Master's degree in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester and is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology. His success rate across hundreds of implant cases is 99.5%.
Cosmetic treatment
Composite bonding starts from £250 per tooth. Most patients treat the front four or six, giving a typical total between £1,000 and £1,500.
Typically five to seven years before it needs refreshing or replacing. Longevity depends on grinding, smoking, nail biting and consumption of staining foods and drinks. It can be polished, repaired and replaced, since your own tooth remains intact underneath.
Bonding is cheaper at £250 per tooth, usually needs no drilling, is reversible and is often done in one appointment, but lasts five to seven years. Porcelain veneers cost £750 per tooth and last ten to fifteen years or longer with better stain resistance, but permanently alter the tooth surface.
Porcelain veneers require a thin layer of the tooth surface, usually around half a millimetre, to be permanently removed. The tooth is not destroyed but will always need covering afterwards. This makes veneers irreversible, which is why bonding is often recommended for patients who want a reversible option.
That depends on the design rather than the treatment. Natural results come from varying tooth shape and shade appropriately and matching the result to your face and age. We design and show you the intended result before treatment begins so it can be adjusted beforehand.
Professional whitening is £325, including assessment, custom made trays and gel.
No. Whitening gel only lightens natural tooth structure. Crowns, veneers, bridges, white fillings and bonding stay the shade they were made, and may need replacing to match after whitening.
No. Composite does not respond to whitening gel. Whitening should always be completed before bonding is placed so the composite matches your final shade.
Invisalign and teeth straightening
Invisalign is quoted individually according to how much your teeth need to move. The consultation is free, and the ClinCheck digital treatment plan is £325, at which point you receive an exact quote alongside a simulation of your predicted result.
Minor corrections can be completed in around three months. Moderate cases typically take six to twelve months and comprehensive cases eighteen months or more. Wearing the aligners 20 to 22 hours a day is the main factor in staying on schedule.
In most everyday situations the aligners are very difficult to detect. Small tooth coloured attachments bonded to some teeth during treatment are also designed to be discreet.
Yes, indefinitely. Teeth drift back towards their previous position after any orthodontic treatment. Vivera retainers are £400 and a fixed retainer is £150 per arch. Failing to wear retainers is the most common reason orthodontic results are lost.
Neither is universally better. Invisalign is more discreet, removable and generally more comfortable, but relies on you wearing the aligners consistently. Fixed braces work continuously without depending on compliance and remain more effective for severe crowding and significant bite correction.
Yes. Clear braces are available from £800 per arch and Quick Straight Teeth from £1,500 per arch.
Yes, and it is extremely common. Relapse cases are frequently among the quickest to treat. This time retention will be explained properly, since not wearing retainers is what caused it.
General dentistry
Dental x-rays use very low doses of radiation and are safe when taken appropriately. They reveal problems an examination cannot detect, including decay between teeth and bone levels around the roots. They are taken when there is a clinical reason rather than routinely at every appointment.
Routine x-rays are usually deferred during pregnancy as a precaution, though they can be taken safely where there is an urgent clinical need. Please tell us if you are or may be pregnant.
Yes. Every examination includes checking the soft tissues of the mouth, tongue, cheeks, throat and neck. It takes under a minute and it is one of the most valuable things a dental examination does.
Bleeding when brushing usually indicates gum inflammation, which is the earliest stage of gum disease. It is not normal, though it is common, and at this stage it is reversible with professional cleaning and better daily cleaning.
Root canal treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and is not usually painful. Most patients describe it as comparable to having a filling. The pain people associate with it is generally the infection beforehand, which the treatment relieves.
Usually, on back teeth. Root treated teeth are more brittle and lose structure during treatment, which makes fracture more likely. A fractured root treated tooth often cannot be saved.
Keeping a natural tooth is generally preferable where the prognosis is reasonable, since it preserves bone and avoids the need for replacement. Root canal treatment from £650 plus a crown from £750 typically costs less than extraction plus an implant at £2,300.
Dry socket occurs when the blood clot in an extraction socket is lost, exposing the bone. It typically develops three to five days after extraction, causing pain that worsens rather than improves. It is treated by cleaning the socket and placing a dressing, which relieves the pain quickly.
Most dentures need replacing after around five to ten years. Relines to restore the fit are usually needed every few years in between, as the jawbone shrinks underneath.
Lower dentures have far less to hold onto than upper ones, since there is no palate providing suction and the tongue works against them. Movement is common and can be resolved by securing the denture onto two or more implants, from £5,000 per arch.
Nervous patients
Yes, and it is something we hear from new patients regularly. We allow longer appointments, explain everything before it happens, and agree a signal so you can stop at any point. Several of our five star reviews come from patients who had avoided dentists for years.
Yes. Many anxious patients book a first visit that involves only a conversation, meeting the team and seeing the surgery, with no examination or treatment. An examination can follow once you feel more comfortable.
No. Nobody here will comment on how long it has been or on the condition of your teeth. Neither helps, and both make it less likely you will come back.
Yes, from £350. It is suitable for patients who would find treatment difficult and for longer surgical appointments. You will need somebody to take you home afterwards.
[NOTE FOR CLIENT: Confirm which sedation methods are offered and whether the £350 applies to treatments other than implants, since the fee list shows "price on consultation" for other treatment.]
Of course. Plenty of patients bring a partner, friend or family member, particularly for a first appointment.
Yes. Clear braces are available from £800 per arch and Quick Straight Teeth from £1,500 per arch.
It happens often and nobody will mention it. Book again whenever you are ready.
Emergencies
Call the practice on 01625 523 524. We will do everything we can to see you as soon as possible. Emergency appointments are £50 for assessment and pain relief.
Existing patients are prioritised, though we help new patients in genuine discomfort wherever the diary allows.
Leave a message and we will respond when we open. An out of hours emergency call out service is available at £145, and weekend emergency appointments are available to existing patients. For urgent problems that cannot wait, call NHS 111.
Go to A&E or call 999 for facial swelling that is spreading, particularly towards the eye or down the neck, difficulty breathing or swallowing, difficulty opening your mouth, a high temperature alongside swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, or a suspected broken jaw.
Pick it up by the crown rather than the root and avoid scrubbing it. If dirty, rinse briefly in milk. Try to reinsert it into the socket and bite gently on a clean cloth. If you cannot, keep it in milk and call us immediately. Reimplantation within thirty to sixty minutes gives the best chance of saving an adult tooth. Do not reinsert a baby tooth.
No. Antibiotics may temporarily reduce symptoms but do not resolve an abscess, because the source remains inside the tooth. Treatment requires draining the infection and either root canal treatment or extraction.
