Spreading the Cost of Treatment

Finance through Tabeo, applied for in minutes with a decision usually straight away. You see the monthly figures before you commit to anything.

Croft Dental on Manchester Road in Wilmslow offers dental finance through Tabeo, allowing the cost of treatment to be spread across monthly payments rather than paid in full at the outset. Applications take a few minutes and a decision is usually given straight away. Interest free options are available on qualifying treatment plans. Finance is most commonly used for implant treatment, teeth straightening and cosmetic work, while routine examinations and hygiene appointments generally fall below the threshold. Finance is subject to status and to affordability and credit checks, and exact monthly figures are shown before any commitment is made.

So, what actually stops people getting treatment done?

It is rarely fear, and it is rarely time. It is expensive. Patients tell us regularly that they have known about a problem for months, sometimes years, and have been waiting until they could afford to deal with it properly. Meanwhile the filling becomes a root canal, the root canal becomes an extraction, and the extraction becomes an implant.

Which is the part worth being honest about. Delaying dental treatment almost always costs more in the end, not less. A £175 filling becomes £650 plus £750 for a crown, and sometimes £2,300 for an implant after that. Same tooth, considerably different sum, and years of putting up with it in between.

Finance exists so the decision can be a clinical one rather than a matter of what happens to be in your account this month. That said, it is borrowing, and this page treats it that way. There is a section further down on what to think about before applying, including where staging treatment over time is the better answer.

How it works

  1. 1
Step one: your consultation and treatment plan
You receive a written treatment plan setting out each stage and each cost. Nothing is agreed until you have seen it.
  2. 2
    Step two: your monthly figures
We show you what your specific treatment would cost per month across the available terms, so you can compare options side by side rather than being presented with one.
  3. 3
    Step three: applying
The application takes a few minutes, completed on a tablet at the practice or on your own phone. You will usually have a decision straight away.
  4. 4
    Step four: your deposit
Where a deposit applies, it is paid at that point.
  5. 5
    Step five: treatment begins
Your monthly payments start according to the agreement, and treatment proceeds as planned.

No pressure at any stage. Being shown finance options is not an expectation that you use them. Plenty of patients look at the figures and decide to pay outright, or to stage treatment over time instead.

Who provides the finance

Croft Dental offers finance through Tabeo, a finance provider working with dental and healthcare practices across the UK.

What that means practically. The credit agreement is between you and the lender rather than with the practice. Tabeo handles the application, the agreement and your monthly payments.

Why do we use them? Applications are quick, decisions are usually immediate, and the process happens at the practice rather than requiring you to arrange finance separately elsewhere.

What you can use it for

Finance is available on larger treatment plans. In practice, these are the treatments patients most commonly spread the cost of.

  • Dental implants

Complete single implants from £2,300, implant bridges from £3,500, and implant retained dentures from £5,000 per arch. The treatment most commonly financed at the practice.

  • Full arch implant packages

Silver from £11,500, Gold from £14,500 and Platinum from £19,500.

  • Invisalign and teeth straightening

Quoted individually following your ClinCheck. Suits monthly payments particularly well, since treatment runs across months anyway.

  • Cosmetic treatment

Composite bonding from £250 per tooth and porcelain veneers from £750 per tooth. Most cosmetic cases treat several teeth, so totals frequently qualify.

  • Larger restorative plans

Crowns from £750, bridges from £750 per unit, and dentures, particularly where several are needed together.

  • Routine treatment

Examinations, hygiene appointments and single fillings usually fall below the finance threshold. For routine care, our practice plan spreads the cost across monthly payments instead.

"I had a failed implant and bridge and was told it could not be repaired. I researched implant clinicians across the North West and found Nikhil. He restored my teeth. I now have two front implants and I can smile again."

Finance is subject to status and to affordability and credit checks. Terms and conditions apply.

Interest free options

Interest free credit is available on qualifying treatment plans, meaning you repay only the cost of the treatment with nothing added.

How it usually works. Interest free agreements are generally offered over shorter terms than interest bearing ones, and a deposit is normally required.

Longer terms. Where a longer repayment period suits you better, interest bearing options may be available over an extended term. The monthly payment is lower and the total repaid is higher.

We will show you both at your consultation so you can compare properly rather than being steered towards one.

Who can apply

You will generally need to

  • Be 18 or over
  • Be a UK resident
  • Have a UK bank account
  • Pass affordability and credit checks

What affects an application. Lending decisions are made by the finance provider rather than by the practice, based on your circumstances and credit history. We are not told the reasons for a decision.

If your application is not approved. It is not the end of the conversation. Treatment can frequently be staged over a longer period, with each phase paid for as it happens, which achieves much the same outcome without credit.

We will work out something practical rather than simply leaving it there.

Things worth knowing before you apply

Finance is a useful tool and it is also a credit agreement. A few things worth being clear about.

It is borrowing. You are entering a credit agreement with a lender. Missing payments can affect your credit rating and may incur charges.

Check the total repayable. On interest free agreements the total is the treatment cost. On interest bearing agreements it is higher. Look at both the monthly figure and the total.

Only borrow what you can comfortably repay. Affordability checks exist for a reason. If a monthly payment would be a stretch, staging treatment over time is usually the better answer and we will say so.

You are under no obligation. Being shown finance options at your consultation is information, not an expectation.

Ask us anything. If something in the agreement is unclear, ask before signing rather than afterwards.

For routine care

Finance suits larger one off treatment. For regular examinations and hygiene appointments, our practice plan is generally the more sensible route.

It spreads the cost of your routine care across fixed monthly payments rather than paying per visit, which also makes it considerably easier to keep attending regularly.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Croft Dental offers finance through Tabeo, allowing the cost of larger treatment plans to be spread across monthly payments. Applications take a few minutes with a decision usually given straight away. Finance is subject to status and to affordability and credit checks.

Interest free options are available on qualifying treatment plans, meaning the total repaid is the cost of the treatment with nothing added. Interest free agreements are generally offered over shorter terms and usually require a deposit. Longer repayment terms may carry interest, in which case the total repaid is higher than the treatment cost.

Finance is available on larger treatment plans, which most commonly means dental implants, full arch implant treatment, Invisalign and teeth straightening, cosmetic treatment such as veneers and multiple composite bonding, and larger restorative plans. Routine examinations and hygiene appointments generally fall below the threshold, and a practice plan is available for those instead.

A deposit is usually required on interest free agreements. The amount depends on the treatment cost and the term selected. The exact figures for your treatment are shown at your consultation before you agree to anything.

Finance applications involve a credit check, which is recorded on your credit file. Making payments on time can have a positive effect on your credit rating, while missed payments can have a negative effect and may incur charges. The specific impact depends on your circumstances and on the lender's process.

Lending decisions are made by the finance provider based on affordability and credit checks, and practices are not told the reasons. Where an application is not approved, treatment can often be staged over a longer period with each phase paid for as it is carried out, which achieves a similar outcome without credit.

Credit agreements normally carry a fourteen day cooling off period during which the agreement can be withdrawn from. The exact terms are set out in the credit agreement itself, which should be read before signing.

The credit agreement is between the patient and the lender rather than with the dental practice. Tabeo handles the application, the agreement and the collection of monthly payments. Croft Dental introduces patients to the finance and does not lend money itself.
