A Dentist for Macclesfield

Twenty minutes up the A538, or ten minutes on the train. Our own parking directly outside, and the implant and endodontic work people travel across the North West for.

Croft Dental is at 64 Manchester Road in Wilmslow, around eight miles and twenty minutes from Macclesfield by car via the A538, or roughly ten minutes by train on the West Coast Main Line. The practice has served this part of Cheshire since 1974 and provides implant treatment led by Dr Nikhil Oberai, who holds an MSc in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester and has a 99.5% success rate across hundreds of cases. Root canal treatment is carried out by a clinician with a Master's degree in Endodontics. Complete single implants start from £2,300 and full arch packages from £11,500. Consultations for implants and teeth straightening are free, and the practice has its own parking directly outside.

So, is it worth travelling from Macclesfield?

Plenty of people do, and a good number come from further afield than you.

We see patients from across Cheshire and South Manchester, and for implant work in particular they come from Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Staffordshire. Zygomatic implants are offered by so few practices that people will drive a couple of hours for them.

And Macclesfield is genuinely close. Twenty minutes in the car, or ten on the train, since both towns sit on the West Coast Main Line. Prestbury and Mottram St Andrew are closer still, at around ten minutes.

Whether you want a routine check up or a full arch reconstruction, you are welcome here. Some patients register with us for everything. Others keep their own dentist locally and come to us for one specific thing. Both work, and neither needs explaining.

What we would say is that people travel for particular reasons rather than general ones, and these are the usual ones.

  • Implant treatment:
The main reason patients come to us from Macclesfield. Dr Nikhil holds a Master’s degree in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester, which involved several years of postgraduate study devoted entirely to implantology. Many dentists placing implants have completed a short certificate course instead. Both are perfectly legal, and the depth of training differs considerably.
  • Complex surgical work in one place:
Bone grafting, sinus lifts and zygomatic implants are all carried out here rather than referred elsewhere, which means a case requiring two referrals from a general practice is handled in a single building.
  • Complex root canal treatment and retreatment:
Carried out by a clinician with a Master’s degree in Endodontics, including retreatment of failed root canals. Many practices refer these out or recommend extraction instead, which is a considerably different outcome for the tooth.
  • Cases you have been told are not possible:
Patients arrive regularly having been told there is not enough bone for implants, or that a root treated tooth must come out. Both are frequently wrong, and both are frequently retreatable.
  • Cosmetic work you want done properly:
Composite bonding, veneers and smile makeovers, led by Dr Natasja, who holds a Master’s in Prosthodontics.
  • Where several disciplines meet:
If your case involves implants, endodontics and restorative work together, having all three handled by postgraduate trained clinicians in one place saves considerably more time than the journey costs.

Getting here from Macclesfield

  • By car:
Take the A538 north west through Prestbury and Mottram St Andrew into Wilmslow, then join Manchester Road heading north east towards Handforth. We are on the right hand side, around twenty minutes in normal conditions. If you reach Handforth Dean, you have gone too far.
  • By train:
Macclesfield to Wilmslow takes around ten minutes and trains are frequent, since both towns sit on the West Coast Main Line. The practice is around ten minutes on foot from Wilmslow station. For anybody who would rather not drive, particularly after treatment, it is genuinely the easier option.
  • From the surrounding villages:
Prestbury and Mottram St Andrew sit directly on the route and are considerably closer than Macclesfield town centre, at around ten minutes.
  • Parking:
We have our own parking directly outside the practice on Manchester Road. No time limits, no tickets, and no walk in from a town centre car park.
  • If you are having surgical treatment or sedation:
Please arrange for somebody to drive you home, or take the train. You should not drive yourself afterwards.

If you are travelling to us

  • The train is worth considering:
Ten minutes from Macclesfield, then ten on foot from Wilmslow station. For longer appointments, or if you would rather not drive afterwards, it takes the journey out of the equation entirely.
  • We will group appointments where we can:
Implant treatment runs across several appointments over months. Tell us you are travelling and we will arrange the schedule to reduce the number of journeys where it is clinically sensible.
  • Surgical appointments:
If you are having implant surgery or sedation, arrange for somebody to drive you home or take the train. Sedation is available from £350.
  • Timing:
The A538 through Prestbury is busier at school run times. Mid morning and early afternoon appointments make the drive easier, and worth mentioning when you book.
  • Parking is sorted:
Our own spaces directly outside, so the journey ends when you arrive rather than fifteen minutes later.
