Cosmetic Dentistry in Wilmslow
Teeth that look like your own at their best. Designed before anything is touched, by a clinician with a Master’s degree in the discipline that makes cosmetic work last.
Cosmetic dentistry improves the appearance of the teeth through treatments including composite bonding, porcelain and composite veneers, teeth whitening, and combined smile makeovers. At Croft Dental on Manchester Road in Wilmslow, cosmetic treatment is led by Dr Natasja Kashyap, who holds an MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, MFDS RCS Edinburgh, and is a Platinum Invisalign Provider. Composite bonding starts from £325 per tooth and composite veneers from £395 per tooth, with porcelain veneers and smile makeovers quoted per case. Results are designed and shown to the patient before treatment begins. The practice has served Wilmslow since 1974 and holds a 5.0 rating across 173 Google reviews.
So, what do you actually want changed?
Most people who end up having cosmetic dentistry didn’t wake up one morning and decide to. It builds slowly. You notice the chip in a photograph. You catch yourself covering your mouth when you laugh, or smiling with your lips closed until you forget you’re even doing it. Then something tips it. A wedding, a birthday with a nought in it, a photo you can’t untag yourself from.
You arrive knowing exactly what bothers you and having no idea what fixes it. That’s completely normal, and it’s the whole reason the consultation exists. You don’t need to know whether you want bonding or veneers. You just need to be able to point at the thing that annoys you.
Dr Natasja’s default is restraint: teeth that look like your own at their best, with enough natural variation in shape and shade that friends notice something’s changed but can’t quite say what. Her Master’s in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics means the engineering gets as much attention as the appearance, because a beautiful veneer that fails in three years hasn’t solved anything.

Which treatment do I need?
Most people arrive knowing what bothers them rather than knowing what fixes it. This is a rough guide, though the honest answer is that it depends on your teeth and it is decided at your consultation.
- Chipped or worn front teeth: usually composite bonding. Quick, affordable, no drilling in most cases. Porcelain veneers where the damage is more extensive or you want something longer lasting.
- Gaps between the teeth: composite bonding closes small gaps in a single appointment. Larger gaps, or gaps caused by crowding elsewhere, are usually better addressed with Invisalign first.
- Crooked or crowded teeth: Invisalign. Bonding and veneers can disguise mild irregularity, but moving the teeth into the right position first produces a better and more conservative result.
- Discoloured teeth: professional whitening first. If the discolouration does not respond, which happens with certain types of internal staining, veneers or bonding may be needed instead.
- Teeth that look short, or a gummy smile: gum contouring, sometimes combined with bonding or veneers to restore proportion.
- Several of the above at once: a smile makeover, planned as a whole rather than treatment by treatment.
The most common mistake
Jumping straight to veneers.
Veneers permanently alter the tooth surface, and a great many cases achieve an equally good result through alignment, whitening and bonding, which is reversible and considerably less invasive. Dr Natasja will tell you honestly if a less invasive route would serve you better, even where the alternative is a larger case.

Your treatment journey
-
1Step one: your consultation and 3D scanDr Nikhil examines your mouth, discusses what you want to achieve, and takes a CBCT 3D scan. The scan shows bone volume, density, nerve position and sinus anatomy in detail a standard x-ray cannot. This is what makes accurate planning possible rather than educated guesswork.
-
2Step two: your treatment planYou receive a written plan setting out the number of implants required, the timeline, each stage of treatment and every cost. Finance options are explained at the same time. Nothing proceeds until you have agreed to all of it.
-
3Step three: any preparatory treatmentIf gum disease needs treating, a tooth needs removing or bone needs rebuilding through grafting or a sinus lift, that happens first. Healing time varies depending on what is required.
-
4Step four: implant placementThe implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most patients describe feeling pressure rather than pain, and for a single implant the procedure usually takes under an hour. You go home the same day. Sedation is available if you would prefer it.
-
5Step five: healing and integrationThe implant needs three to six months to fuse with the bone. You will have a temporary tooth during this period so there is no visible gap. Some cases are suitable for immediate loading, where teeth are fitted the same day.
-
6Step six: fitting your final teethOnce integration is confirmed, the final crown, bridge or denture is made and fitted. Shade and shape are matched to your surrounding teeth.
-
7Step seven: aftercare and reviewWe review your implant afterwards and continue to monitor it at your regular appointments. Implants need cleaning and checking like natural teeth, and looked after properly they can last decades.
How long cosmetic treatment lasts
This is the question patients most often do not think to ask, and it matters considerably more than the initial price.
- Composite bonding: typically five to seven years before it needs refreshing or replacing. It can chip and it does pick up staining over time, particularly with coffee, red wine and smoking. Repairable and reversible.
- Composite veneers: similar to bonding, typically five to seven years.
- Porcelain veneers: typically ten to fifteen years, sometimes considerably longer. Porcelain resists staining far better than composite. Not reversible, since the tooth surface is permanently prepared.
- Teeth whitening: results last from several months to a couple of years depending on diet and habits. Top up treatment maintains it.
- Invisalign: the tooth movement is permanent provided retainers are worn as instructed. Teeth drift back without them, and this is the single most common reason orthodontic results are lost.
What affects longevity: grinding, biting nails, opening things with your teeth, smoking, and how well you clean. Where grinding is present, a nightguard is usually recommended to protect the work.
We will tell you the realistic lifespan of any treatment before you commit to it, rather than after.

Dr Natasja Kashyap
BDS · MSc Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics · MFDS RCS Edinburgh · Platinum Invisalign Provider · GDC 150054
Dr Natasja leads cosmetic and restorative dentistry at Croft Dental. Her postgraduate training in Prosthodontics covers the design and construction of veneers, crowns, bridges and full mouth restorations, which gives her cosmetic work a technical foundation beyond appearance alone.
As a Platinum Invisalign Provider she has completed a high volume of clear aligner cases, and she frequently combines alignment with bonding or veneers to achieve results that need considerably less intervention than veneers alone.
Her approach is deliberately understated. She designs results that suit your face, age and natural colouring, so the outcome reads as a healthy smile rather than obvious dental work.

Frequently asked questions
Cosmetic dentistry is priced per treatment and per tooth. At Croft Dental, composite bonding starts from £325 per tooth and composite veneers from £395 per tooth, with porcelain veneers and smile makeovers quoted per case. Most patients treat the front four or six teeth. Patients receive full written costs following consultation, and finance is available through Tabeo.
Composite bonding uses tooth coloured resin sculpted directly onto the tooth in the surgery, usually in a single appointment and without drilling. Veneers are thin shells covering the front of the tooth, either porcelain made in a laboratory or composite built in the surgery. Bonding typically lasts five to seven years and is reversible. Porcelain veneers last ten to fifteen years or longer but permanently alter the tooth surface.
Most cosmetic treatment is comfortable and requires no anaesthetic. Composite bonding usually involves no drilling and no injection. Teeth whitening can cause temporary sensitivity in some patients, which settles within a few days. Porcelain veneers require preparation of the tooth surface and are carried out under local anaesthetic.
Composite bonding is often completed in a single appointment of one to two hours. Teeth whitening takes one appointment or two weeks of home treatment. Porcelain veneers usually require two to three appointments over several weeks. Smile makeovers involving alignment can run across twelve to eighteen months depending on what is included.
This depends on the design and the clinician rather than on the treatment itself. Natural looking results come from varying tooth shape and shade appropriately, matching the result to the patient's face and age, and avoiding uniform brightness. At Croft Dental, cosmetic cases are designed and shown to the patient before treatment begins, so the intended result can be adjusted beforehand.
Many patients who ask about veneers achieve the result they want through a combination of alignment, whitening and composite bonding, none of which permanently alters the tooth. Veneers require a thin layer of the tooth surface to be removed and are not reversible. Where a less invasive route would achieve a similar outcome, that is generally the better option and should be discussed at consultation.
Most cosmetic cases treat the front four or six upper teeth, since these are the teeth visible when smiling. Some cases require only a single tooth, for example where one tooth is chipped or discoloured. Treating an appropriate number of adjacent teeth generally produces a more balanced result than treating one in isolation, particularly where shade or shape differs noticeably.
Composite bonding and composite veneers can be polished, repaired if they chip, and replaced when they reach the end of their lifespan, since the natural tooth beneath remains intact. Porcelain veneers can sometimes be repaired, though replacement is usually the better option, and because the tooth has been prepared, replacement is with another veneer or a crown.
