Smile Makeovers in Wilmslow

Several things you would change, thought about as one. Designed and agreed before a single appointment is booked.

A smile makeover is a combined treatment plan designed to change the overall appearance of the smile, usually bringing together alignment, whitening, and bonding or veneers rather than relying on a single procedure. The result is designed and agreed before treatment begins. At Croft Dental on Manchester Road in Wilmslow, smile makeovers are planned and carried out by Dr Natasja Kashyap, who holds an MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and is a Platinum Invisalign Provider. Timelines run from three weeks for whitening and bonding to eighteen months where alignment is included. Cases are priced individually, consultations are free, and finance is available through Tabeo.

So, what is a smile makeover?

It is not a treatment. It is a plan, and the difference matters more than it sounds.

Most people who come to us about their smile have several things they would change rather than one. The colour. A gap. One tooth that sits slightly forward. Edges that have worn unevenly over twenty years without anyone noticing it happening.

Individually, none of those has an obvious single answer. Together, they need thinking about as a whole.

That is what a makeover is. Dr Natasja works out what the finished result should look like, then determines the shortest and least invasive route to get there. Which usually means combining treatments in a particular order rather than defaulting to one.

And the order matters enormously.

Straightening first often means fewer veneers, or none at all. Whitening before bonding means the composite matches your final shade rather than your old one. Gum contouring before veneers means the proportions are right when the veneers are designed.

Done in the wrong sequence, the same treatments produce a worse result at greater cost. That is the single biggest difference between a planned makeover and a series of separate procedures carried out as and when they occurred to somebody.

It is also why the design stage comes first here, before anything is booked, quoted or touched.

What a smile makeover might involve

Every case is different. These are the components most commonly combined.

Invisalign or clear aligners

Moving the teeth into the right position first. Frequently the most valuable part of a makeover, because correct alignment reduces how much cosmetic work is needed afterwards.

Teeth whitening

Establishing the base shade before any restorative work is placed. Always completed before bonding or veneers, since neither responds to whitening gel.

Composite bonding or composite veneers

Reshaping, rebuilding and refining. Reversible, more affordable, and often sufficient once the teeth have been aligned and whitened.

Porcelain veneers

Where a longer lasting or more substantial change is needed. Permanent, so recommended when it is genuinely the right answer rather than as a default.

Gum contouring

Reshaping an uneven gum line, or lengthening teeth that appear short. Often the missing piece where proportions look wrong despite the teeth themselves being fine.

Crowns and restorative work

Where teeth are heavily filled, cracked or structurally compromised, they may need rebuilding before cosmetic work is placed on top.

Dental implants

Where a tooth is missing, replacing it is part of the makeover rather than separate from it. Dr Nikhil handles the implant side.

General and hygiene treatment

Decay and gum disease are always addressed first. Cosmetic work is not placed on unhealthy foundations.

Am I a suitable candidate?

Usually appropriate if you

  • Have several things you would like to change rather than one specific problem
  • Have healthy teeth and gums, or issues that can be treated first
  • Want a considered result rather than a quick fix
  • Are prepared for treatment to run over several months where alignment is involved

We will need to assess further if you

  • Have active decay or gum disease, which must be treated first
  • Grind or clench, which affects material choice and may require a nightguard
  • Have a bite problem, which needs addressing before cosmetic work
  • Have expectations that may not be achievable, which is a conversation worth having honestly at the outset

On expectations

Worth saying plainly.

A makeover can change your smile substantially. It cannot make your teeth identical to somebody else’s, because your face, your lip line, your gum position and your existing teeth all shape what is possible and what will actually look right on you.

The design stage exists precisely so you can see what is realistic before committing to anything. If what you want is not achievable, or would not suit you, Dr Natasja will say so at the consultation rather than at the end.

Your treatment journey

  1. 1
    Step one: your consultation
Around 45 minutes. Dr Natasja examines your teeth, gums and bite, takes photographs and digital scans, and spends most of the appointment understanding what you actually want.

This part matters more than any other. Cosmetic treatment only succeeds when the clinician has genuinely understood the brief.
  2. 2
    Step two: design
Your intended result is designed before any treatment begins, using digital smile design or a wax model depending on the case. Shape, length, proportion, shade and gum line are all worked out at this stage.

You see the design, and you can change it. This is the point at which to be particular, not after treatment has started.
  3. 3
    Step three: your written plan
Every treatment involved, the order they happen in, how long each stage takes, the total timeline, and the full cost broken down. Finance options with monthly figures. Nothing proceeds until you have agreed to all of it.
  4. 4
    Step four: foundations
Decay, gum disease and bite problems are treated first. This stage is not optional and it is not cosmetic, but skipping it is why cosmetic work fails.
  5. 5
    Step five: alignment, where included
Invisalign typically runs from three to eighteen months depending on the case. This is usually the longest phase and it is worth the wait, because everything afterwards is simpler and more conservative once the teeth are in the right place.
  6. 6
    Step six: whitening, where included
Completed after alignment and before any restorative work, so the final shade is established before bonding or veneers are matched to it.
  7. 7
Step seven: restorative and cosmetic work
Bonding, veneers, crowns or contouring, carried out to the agreed design. Temporary restorations are used on veneer cases so you can live with the shape before the final work is made.
  8. 8
Step eight: review, refinement and retention
The finished result is reviewed and refined. Where alignment was involved, retainers are essential and must be worn as instructed, since teeth drift back without them.

We will explain maintenance for whichever materials have been used, including realistic lifespans.

Meet your cosmetic dentist

Dr Natasja Kashyap

BDS · MSc Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics · MFDS RCS Edinburgh · Platinum Invisalign Provider · GDC 150054

Dr Natasja plans and carries out smile makeovers at Croft Dental. Her postgraduate training covers the design and construction of veneers, crowns and full mouth restorations, which is the discipline concerned with how restorations function and last rather than simply how they look. A makeover has to survive a bite for years, not just photograph well on the day.

As a Platinum Invisalign Provider she is unusually well placed to combine alignment with cosmetic work rather than treating them separately, and alignment is frequently the most valuable part of a makeover.

Her approach is deliberately restrained. She designs results that suit your face, age and natural colouring, so the outcome reads as a healthy smile rather than obvious dental work.

And she will tell you where to stop. A great many patients who ask about veneers achieve what they want through alignment, whitening and bonding. Where that is the case, she says so, even though the alternative would be a considerably larger case.

Where a missing tooth forms part of the picture, Dr Nikhil handles the implant work. His Master’s is in Implant Dentistry from the University of Manchester and his success rate across cases is 99.5%.

Spread the cost of your smile makeover with finance

We offer finance on cosmetic treatment through Tabeo so the cost can be spread across monthly payments. Interest-free options are available with no arrangement fees or hidden charges.

Applications take a few minutes and you will know the outcome quickly. We will show you exactly what your treatment would cost per month at your consultation.

Because makeovers run over several months anyway, finance frequently makes a more comprehensive plan achievable than paying stage by stage.

We're Welcoming New Patients

We warmly welcome new patients to our practice. If it’s been a while since your last visit, if dental visits make you feel anxious, if you’ve recently moved to Wilmslow, or if you’re simply seeking a team that truly listens to your concerns, you’ll find a supportive and gentle environment here with us.
During your first appointment, we take the time to conduct a complete evaluation of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. We will listen carefully to your goals, answer any questions, and collaboratively create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Frequently asked questions

A smile makeover is a combined treatment plan designed to change the overall appearance of the smile, rather than a single procedure. It typically brings together some combination of teeth straightening, whitening, composite bonding, veneers and gum contouring, carried out in a planned sequence. The intended result is designed and agreed with the patient before treatment begins.

Smile makeovers are priced per case, since the combination of treatments differs for every patient. At Croft Dental, a whitening and composite bonding makeover across the front six teeth starts from around £2,350, with porcelain veneer cases starting from around £4,900. Cases including Invisalign cost more, since alignment is added to the plan. Patients receive an itemised written quote covering every stage before treatment begins.

Timelines depend on what is included. Whitening and bonding can be completed in three to six weeks. Cases including Invisalign typically run from six to eighteen months, since alignment is the longest phase. Cases involving implants or extensive restorative work can take twelve to twenty four months.

Not necessarily. Many smile makeovers achieve the desired result through a combination of alignment, whitening and composite bonding, without any veneers. Straightening the teeth first often reduces or removes the need for veneers, and composite bonding is reversible whereas porcelain veneers permanently alter the tooth surface. The right approach depends on the extent of change required.

Sequence matters considerably. Decay and gum disease are treated first. Alignment follows, since moving teeth into the correct position reduces how much cosmetic work is needed. Whitening comes next, establishing the final shade. Bonding, veneers and other restorative work are carried out last, matched to the whitened teeth, since neither composite nor porcelain responds to whitening gel.

This depends on the design rather than the treatments used. Natural results come from varying tooth shape, length and translucency appropriately, matching proportions to the patient's face and lip line, and avoiding uniform brightness. At Croft Dental the result is designed and shown to the patient before treatment begins, so the intended appearance can be adjusted beforehand.

Often, provided there is enough notice. Whitening and bonding cases can be completed in three to six weeks, while cases including Invisalign need six to eighteen months. The timeline should be discussed at the consultation so the plan can be built around the date, rather than compressing treatment in a way that compromises the result.

Yes. Many patients complete their makeover in phases, particularly where alignment is involved, since treatment naturally runs across several months. The plan is designed as a whole at the outset so that each stage builds towards the agreed final result, and the sequence is maintained even where the treatment is spread over a longer period.
